Ray Hoppes - Longmont
Laural Valley Lines
My railway runs around the perimeter of an “L” shaped lawn. The main line is about 230 feet with two passing sidings and five spurs. The layout is planned for operation and has been very successful in that regard. I enjoy operating it by myself, but it also can be operated by my four grandchildren.
The golden spike was in 2019. Since then, additional sidings have been added. A major feature of the layout is the scale plantings including several types of ground covers and scale trees. These are labelled so you can take a photo home for your garden railway. It is truly a garden railway.
The layout has both track power and radio control. Many engines have sound. Several kit-built wooden cars will be on display.
Two truss bridges and a trestle bridge play a key role in getting drainage to the street and (when removed) allow lawnmower access to the lawn.
Well, that’s my railway – come and enjoy!
